Chappell Insurance Agency started in the mid 1920’s with founder Carl Chappell, who laid the foundation for his insurance business in Elkin, NC.  Carl, his wife Hattie Greenwood Chappell, and his son Ed Chappell started to see the fruits of their labor as the business started to thrive.  In 1965 Chappell Insurance was incorporated.

 

After the passing of his father, Ed Chappell owned and operated the business until the early 1990’s when ownership changed and was combined with Luther Chappell Insurance Agency in Dobson, NC. Keith Wilmoth, who had been working with NC Farm Bureau since 1991, joined Chappell Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1998 and worked as a producer for the agency.

 

In 2006, Chappell Insurance Agency, Inc. made many changes by becoming paperless with the purchase of an Agency Management System along with increasing the technology in office operations. This was done to protect customers, be able to have records stored electronically in case of disaster and to provide better service to our customers.

 

In 2018, Chappell Insurance Agency, Inc. maintained its vision to provide personal and professional service for existing customers by making more changes. We have added a service team that works from a remote office and is managed by Angie Danowski (Personal Lines) and Susan Dutcher (Commercial Lines).  This service team works on existing policies, making changes, providing evidence of property, certificates of insurance, requoting policies for existing customers, and other service needs for current customers.  This allows our office staff, Amanda White (Personal Lines), Susie Cockerham (Personal Lines) and Jeff Edmonds (Commercial Lines and Life Insurance) to work on new policies for existing and/or new customers and spending quality time advising them on their insurance needs to help protect their assets correctly with our broad insurance products from multiple insurance companies.

 

Our office is located at 209 S. Main Street in Dobson, NC.  Our office hours are 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Our phone lines are available 9:00am until 5:30pm.  By adding our remote service team this gives our customers an extra hour each workday to contact us. Our remote service team allows us to help customers as well during inclement weather that would have caused us to close our operations in the past during those times. This should allow Chappell Insurance Agency, Inc. the ability to provide a variety of services and advise all customers with their insurance needs in a more efficient way.
